Description
We are getting creative this summer with HRay Art Camps at the Hamilton County Artists’ Association! This year, we are offering a week-long art camp for elementary students, taking place July 8th-12th, exploring nature themes. We will also host a weekly open studio for toddler/preschool students in July and August.
BIG KIDS: Elementary-aged students will meet for two hours daily, from 9:00 to 11:00 at the Birdie Gallery. Register your child HERE.
PRE-K: Participants aged 2 to 5 will meet at the studio from 9:00 to 11:00 each Tuesday, at the Birdie Gallery. *Please plan to be present and engage with your child during open studio. Register your child HERE.
What will my child learn about at art camp?
We will explore several nature themes through music, storytelling, art reflection and creation.
- Who lives in nature?
- What do natural habitats look like?
- How do artists see the great outdoors?
What will my child create?
Participants will engage in process art and exploration with materials, as well as create projects together. We will explore various mediums and art processes throughout the week.
- Drawing
- Painting
- Printmaking
- Collage
- Puppetry
How can I support my child’s art camp experience?
We know our participants will have a blast exploring and creating with us! There are a few things you can do to support your child and encourage their creativity.
- Send your child in clothes that can get messy. (I’m a mother and an educator, so I try to keep kids clean. What can I say? Art is messy!) Students will also receive an art shirt they can wear their art on each day. This is including in the camp fee.
- Ask your child questions about their art camp experience each day. Talk to them about what they learned, what the loved, and what they created!
The Fine Print
All art camp sales are final. Emergency contact information and signed waivers must be provided and complete for your child to participate in art camp. Complete the form in advance online, or arrive early the first day of camp to complete it on paper. Instructors and staff will not be responsible for supporting children in the restroom. Participants must be independent in the bathroom or be accompanied by an adult at camp. Reach out if you have additional questions about art camps or HRay Art.

My 2.5 and 4.5 yr old daughters attended the art camp this summer and it was an amazing experience for them. Even though it’s in the afternoon, they were still engaged and excited about it each day. The program included free play, story time, and art lessons. Heather did a good job controlling the flow and she’s super fun and patient. I’m pleasantly surprised that my 2.5 yr old really loves learning all the new skills like cutting and painting. The projects are a good mix of different types of art work too. Highly recommend it for preschoolers. Oh and the space was spacious for me and another mom to take our babies there during class.

My 5.5 year old loved creating at this workshop! Heather had a lot of fun stations setup for the kiddos to use when they first arrived and after they were done working on their projects. Heather had 2-3 big projects each day, and directed the kids in a really accessible and kid-centered fashion. My highly active kid was never bored and had so much fun engaging with all of the materials and activities. We will definitely attend future workshops!
